Ricardo Verges leads SMART’s Property and Casualty Actuarial Services serving insurance and reinsurance companies, law companies, captives, brokers and self-insureds. He has more than 20 years of broad-based actuarial and managerial experience in property and casualty insurance, with particular expertise in litigation and arbitration support, operations, MGA management, strategic planning, reserving, financial reporting, reinsurance negotiation and profitability studies. Earlier, Ricardo was Senior Vice President and Chief Actuary of XL Environmental and XL Programs, two divisions of XL Capital, where he developed the actuarial function from its inception, ultimately supporting a $750 million portfolio. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the University of Montreal in Montreal, Quebec. Ricardo is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society, a member of the American Academy of Actuaries, and a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries.
