Brian King is a Managing Director in SMART’s Actuarial Services practice. Brian has more than fourteen years of experience providing actuarial and consulting services for the insurance industry. He has extensive experience in the federal income taxation of life insurance companies and products, including compliance under IRC Sections 7702 and 7702A.

In the past fourteen years, Brian has participated in and managed a wide range of life insurance consulting projects, including designing and developing tax compliance testing systems for validation of life insurance contracts; examining and evaluating acquired blocks of life insurance contracts for exposure to non-compliance; assisting companies with filings to the IRS to remedy Section 7702 contract failures and Section 7702A inadvertent MECs; investigating alternative methods for contract compliance in support of negotiations and settlements with the IRS; and developing analysis for expert witness reports and testimony.
