J. Howard Stecker has more than 29 years of experience building and directing best-in-class insurance consulting and insurance finance organizations. Recently joining SMART from Prudential Financial, Inc., where he served as the Chief Tax Officer, Howard is the Executive Managing Director of SMART’s Finance, Accounting, Compensation and Tax Services, which includes accounting, attest, tax, actuarial, and compensation and benefits services.

Howard’s prior positions include Managing Partner, Global Insurance Tax Services with Deloitte & Touche, LLP, and Financial Services Partner with KPMG Peat Marwick and various financial officer positions with Globe Life and Accident Insurance Company, Great American Reserve Insurance Company and JC Penney Life Insurance Company.
