Crossed, Franzoni, Hayden, Heckman, Hofrichter, Palmer Promoted to Partners

Devon, PA April 21, 2006 – SMART is pleased to announce that David X. Crossed, Diane L. Franzoni, James Hayden, Todd A. Heckman, Richard D. Hofrichter and Jeffery Palmer have been promoted to company Partners.

David X. Crossed, CPA, is a new Partner within the Business Consulting practice of SMART. Crossed has more than 17 years of experience in business operations, strategic planning, general management, operations management, and financing. He has developed strategies and implemented solutions that improve organizational efficiency and effectiveness for a wide range of organizations and specializes in working with companies in the transportation, manufacturing and technology industries.

Diane L. Franzoni, CPA, is a new Partner within the company’s Assurance and Accounting Services practice. Franzoni has more than sixteen years of business management, financial services and accounting experience, including five years of private industry experience and more than 10 years of national public accounting company experience. She has held positions of Director of Accounting for American Meter Company and Senior Manager in the Audit and Advisory Services practice with Arthur Andersen, LLP.

James Hayden, CPA, is a new Partner of Accounting and Assurance Services, based in the company’s Baltimore, Maryland office. Hayden has more than 15 years of accounting experience in both the public and private sectors, including eight years of Big Four domestic and international audit experience for SEC and non-SEC enterprises. Prior to joining SMART, Hayden had his own consulting company, Hayden Consulting, providing CFO outsourcing, strategic planning, and estate tax planning. Earlier, Hayden was Vice President of Finance and Controller with Stitch Networks, and Corporate Controller for Bionx Implants. Before joining Bionx, Hayden was an Audit Consulting Manager at GlaxoSmithKline.

Todd A. Heckman is a new Partner within the company’s Business Consulting practice, where he serves as the Practice Lead for the Higher Education industry. Heckman has consulted with numerous colleges and universities and has also held faculty and administrative positions at Penn State University. He specializes in ERP implementations, finance and human capital strategy, merger integration and change management, and has served as the project manager for several large-scale ERP implementations and installed various packaged solutions including Banner, SAP and Oracle. Heckman has also lead several engagements involving the integration of corporate entities as the result of mergers, acquisitions and the design and build of world-class shared service centers. Prior to joining SMART, Heckman spent nearly ten years with the business consulting practice of Arthur Andersen, LLP.

Richard D. Hofrichter, CPA, has been promoted to partner of the company’s Tax Services, based in the company’s Atlanta, Georgia office. Hofrichter has more than 15 years of State and Local Tax (SALT) expertise in government, private, and public accounting roles. Prior to joining SMART, Hofrichter served as a Tax Technology Manager in the Richmond, Virginia SALT practice of Arthur Andersen. Earlier, Hofrichter spent five years with Heilig Meyers Furniture, a nationwide furniture retailer, in roles ranging from Sales Tax and Fixed Asset Manager to Tax Director. Previously, Hofrichter served as a Sales Tax Auditor for the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Jeffery Palmer is a new Partner of Advisory Services, based in the company’s Devon, Pennsylvania office. Prior to joining SMART, Palmer was the Managing Director of Overseas NEIL Limited, a $5 billion subsidiary of Nuclear Electric Insurance Limited, a mutual insurance company providing property and business interruption insurance to nuclear generating facilities. Earlier, Palmer held roles including Vice President of Administration and Finance for Nuclear Electric Insurance Limited. Prior to joining Nuclear Electric Insurance Limited, Palmer was an Audit Manager for Price Waterhouse and Company.
